Electronic Presenations/Handouts at Annual Meeting; Special Event Information
ANNUAL MEETING ATTENDEES
CARH'S BROADCAST E-MAIL –
Annual Meeting
June 4, 2014
1) Electronic Presentations/Handouts at Annual Meeting
As we did at this past Midyear Meeting in January, CARH will not be providing a meeting binder at the upcoming Annual Meeting. Instead, attendees will receive a USB thumb drive which will contain the presentations and/or handouts that will be used during CARH's standing committee meetings and the individual sessions. Therefore, we want to remind you to bring your laptop, tablet or smartphone to access these materials. If your electronic device does not have a USB port, all meeting materials will also be available on the CARH website, http://www.carh.org/. (Wi-Fi service through the hotel will not be provided by CARH due to the cost. However, your cellular Wi-Fi service should allow you access to view the handouts online during the meeting.)
Although you will not receive a printed binder, you will still receive hard copies of the meeting schedule, agendas, bios and attendee lists.
2) Special Event Information
We hope you've been practicing your swing, because if you make a donation to the CARH Scholarship Foundation you'll have the chance to take some batting practice in a Major League Baseball facility! Our opening reception will be held Sunday, June 8, at the Washington National's Baseball Park. The reception will be held right behind home plate and the batting cage will be open. This is a family-friendly event at the ballpark, so dress casual, be ready for some fun and support the Scholarship Foundation!
On Monday, CARH is bringing Capitol Hill to us! CARH's Congressional Luncheon will be held at the conference hotel, the Ritz Carlton Pentagon City. Two members of the House of Representatives – one from each side of the aisle – will discuss issues that affect you; the upcoming election and what they see as the most important issues facing both parties.
On Monday evening, plan on attending our 17th Annual Live & Silent Auction. As always, this will be an exciting night with your colleagues and you will have the opportunity to bid on the many items that have been donated for the auction – from electronics, to pictures, to vacations! The Auction benefits both CARH and the CARH Scholarship Foundation.
Finally, on Tuesday, June 10, CARH's Awards Breakfast will take place. The four winners of the 2014 Scholarship Foundation Scholarships will be presented, as will awards for Rural Development's National Site Managers of the Year. Don't miss this heartwarming event that provides you with the chance to meet those that benefit most from your generous donations to the CARH Scholarship Foundation.
We look forward to seeing you in a few days at the Annual Meeting. If you have any questions, please contact the CARH national office at or 703-837-9001 or carh@carh.org.
