MIDYEAR MEETING: Important Information for Attendees
MIDYEAR MEETING ATTENDEES
CARH’S BROADCAST E-MAIL – Midyear Meeting
January 8, 2019
CARH’s Midyear Meeting at Ocean Reef in Key Largo is less than three weeks away on January 28-30th! We wanted to provide all attendees with important information before the meeting!
Smartphone App for Access to Meeting Materials – Including Speaker Information, Schedule, and Handouts
For the first time, CARH will be using an EVENT APP to make your meeting experience more seamless and less burdensome. The week before the meeting, all attendees will receive an email from CARH with a link to download CARH’s event app. Within the app, you’ll be able to customize and plan your schedule in advance! You will also be able to access the meeting schedule, speakers’ information, and all documents and presentations used throughout the meeting, and post conference-related pictures…all within the free app!
Access to Ocean Reef
All guests must be registered with “The GATE” to secure entry into Ocean Reef. CARH will provide Ocean Reef with the names of all attendees and their guests. Please be sure that you have registered all of your guests with CARH prior to arrival, even if they are not attending CARH’s receptions. To update your guest list, please contact Eppie Marecheau at emarecheau@carh.org or 703-837-9001.
Required Guest Card and Tipping Information
Cash and credits cards are NOT accepted throughout most of the facilities at Ocean Reef. After entering the resort, please head to THE INN and pick up a guest card from the front desk. This card allows you to charge at the restaurants and other places on property that do not accept credit cards. Credit cards ARE accepted at the retail stores at the Fishing Village.
Please note that tipping is not required while you are a guest at Ocean Reef. Guests are assessed a resort fee and daily service charge which covers staff gratuities. As always, if someone’s service exceeds your expectations a cash gratuity is appropriate.
Transportation To and From Ocean Reef
The Ocean Reef Club is located at 201 Ocean Reef Drive, Key Largo, FL 33037. The club is approximately one hour south of the Miami International Airport (MIA) and one and a half hours from the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. To get there:
- Ocean Reef can arrange one-way or round-trip transportation – please call Ocean Reef or fill out this transportation request form to arrange. A van option is available for large groups.
- Guests may rent a car at the airport or Ocean Reef has an Enterprise office on site for one-way and round-trip rentals. Parking is available throughout the property.
- Ubers are available to Ocean Reef from the Miami airport. Please note they are often less available when departing Ocean Reef.
- Reef Runaround is a car service in the area, reachable at reefrunaround@gmail.com. Cars can fit six passengers. The cost is approximately $185 to Miami Airport.
- An additional option is a recommendation that CARH member Renee Bellamy forwarded. Go America is a shuttle service based out of Florida. According to Renee, she has researched the rates to and from Miami Airport and Ocean Reef and found them to be very reasonable, and in some cases less expensive than Uber or Lyft. If interested, contact the owner Carlos via e-mail at info@goamericatransportation.com or leave a message at 305-773-3908.
Transportation At Ocean Reef
Get a Ride: The Bell Stand at Ocean Reef will provide transportation to any destination within Ocean Reef. Please call 305-367-2611 for pickup needs. We suggest checking out this interactive map to get a sense of the place.
Golf Carts: Ocean Reef is a golf cart community, and you may enjoy renting a cart to explore during your stay. Call (305) 367-2611 to reserve your cart; however, main attractions at Ocean Reef are all largely walkable depending upon where you are staying on property.
Water Taxi: Ocean Reef runs a water taxi between Buccaneer Island and the Fishing Village – just a few minutes and a fun ride through the mangroves!
We look forward to seeing you later this month at the Midyear Meeting. If you have any questions, please contact the CARH national office at or 703-837-9001 or carh@carh.org.
