USDA Summer Food Service Program Webinar – March 16

March 15, 2016

On Wednesday March 16, at 2:00 p.m., Eastern, USDA’s Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) will be hosting a webinar entitled “Summer Meals for Public Housing Authorities.” Although the title references Public Housing Authorities, the SFSP is available to implement at your property! SFSP reimburses organizations for serving free, nutritious meals to infants, kids and teens 18 years old and younger in low-income communities.

The challenge for SFSP is that during the summer, some kids and teens find it difficult to get to a site the serves free summer meals. Your property can be a great place to serve these meals because the kids and teens already live there and oftentimes there is a community space to organize activities. Residents can also volunteer to help run the program.

Last summer, many CARH members took part in the SFSP and thousands of children were served meals during the summer. To learn more on hosting a program this summer, take part in tomorrow’s one-hour webinar.
