On Nov. 15, 2021, President Biden signed into law the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act which includes the Build America, Buy America Act (BABAA). BABAA requires that all iron, steel, manufactured products and construction materials used in federally funded projects must be produced in the United States.
USDA Rural Development is leading and supporting the implementation of BABAA as it energizes domestic manufacturing, strengthens supply chains and creates good jobs for people of all backgrounds and experiences across the United States.
USDA RD’s January 27, 2023, introductory BABAA webinar recording and companion questions and answers document are now available on the RD BABAA website. A BABAA Customer Guide is also available that provides an overview of BABAA. It can help you determine if your project is subject to BABAA and explain how to document compliance.
